The following case study deals with the experience of Babu as a volunteer of the Coventry Ambassador programme. His feedback and views were collected during an interview and are transposed below.

Babu has expressed his view on volunteering over the years because he thought it is the best way he could contribute to society. He joined the Coventry Ambassador programme during the Olympic Games in 2012 and is still an active member with full contribution.

“Opportunity to visitvarious places”

When he was asked about what made him apply to become a Coventry Ambassador he replied that it provides the platform to interact with the variety of people who are from Coventry and from different cities all

over the world. Moreover, being a Coventry Ambassador also created “the opportunities for me to visit various places.” He stated that he had such a valuable experience throughout these years volunteering as he had opportunity to be a volunteer in different events.

Babu explained that he has gained numerous skills and knowledge about multi cultures and social aspects which he thinks that he could not have experienced if he was not a part of EnV.

“Fantastic and makes life far more better”

He mentioned that there were high profile and interesting events throughout his time as a Coventry Ambassador volunteer adding to that, “there were good people who I met and worked with which is fantastic and made my life far more better.”

There have been a large number of events which he was a part of as a Coventry Ambassador however, the events when volunteering to support and welcome VIP guests at various events are the ones which marked him. This is because he had a chance to meet well recognised people and learn innovative ideas from them. He also said that volunteering and being a part of the Coventry Ambassador programme provided him the chance to contribute his time in a right manner by doing something positive for the society.

Babu stated that he wants to recommend this programme to everyone as it helps you to reach many people who needs you in life. Also, it gives a chance to learn about different cultures and most importantly to do something for your city.
