We have been delighted to work with Coventry College to re-establish our Youth Ambassador volunteer programme following the pandemic. We have trained and provided new branded uniform for over 40 Coventry College students providing them access to deliver over 300 volunteer hours so far across the city with involvement in a range of opportunities. Jaspreet Atwal, Coventry College Industry Placement Team Leader, explains here how the programme has been of benefit to their students:
I started on my City Host journey in May/June 2021. I saw the drive to recruit City Hosts and felt drawn to it, showcasing and helping our city at such an important and exciting time. I spoke often to family and friends about all the events and shifts I had completed. Explaining that as well as being welcomed by everyone on the team I felt I was giving something back, I had gained fulfilment, made new friends and had such a happy, lovely time on shifts.

I was very excited when Coventry became City of Culture 2021 and wanted to be a part of it. I have never been a volunteer before so was a little nervous as don’t know anyone but what didn’t matter as everyone is so friendly. Love being part of the family in blue.
When we started to recruit for new City Hosts this year told my sister Claire about it. She signed up and as we have done a few shifts together - she is enjoying it.

Volunteering offers numerous benefits and can be a deeply rewarding experience. Here are ten compelling reasons why volunteering is a valuable and worthwhile endeavour:
We are proud of all our volunteers and this week is no exception, Chris was on his City Greeter shift when a coach full of tourists got lost, one of his fellow volunteers has nominated him for a Special Mention award for his efforts of getting them to their destination. Well done Chris and thank you!
'Chris went above and beyond to help out a large group of tourists visiting The Cathedral. Right at the end of the shift we were asked for help to direct their coach, parked somewhere behind the Transport Museum, round t...
