The Story of Diane – A Coventry Ambassador Volunteer

The following case study deals with the experience of Diane as a volunteer of the Coventry Ambassador programme. Her feedback and views were collected during an interview and are transposed below.

“Awesome and Family-oriented experience”

Diane decided to volunteer to make a difference to peoples’ lives.She feels that there are hundreds of people who need help. She became a Coventry Ambassador during Olympic games in 2012 where she did enjoy volunteering as the city hosted Football at Ricoh Arena.

When she is asked to tell what has attracted her to volunteer as a Coventry Ambassador, Diane mentions that it provides a “fantastic opportunity” to meet new people, talk to them and find out about their lives.

“I go home and I feel, I made a difference topeoples’ lives”

Diane mentioned that she has gained a lot from volunteering. As a Coventry Ambassador, she has a chance to promote the city that she lives in which have lovely people who appreciates somebody helping them. Also, she stated that this programme helped her to feel that she made a difference to peoples’ lives when she goes home. 

Moreover, the whole interaction process during her role as a Coventry ambassador enhanced her knowledge and understanding about diverse cultures in Coventry.

“It’s bringing us closer and supporting Coventry”

She described being as a Coventry Ambassador made a dramatic difference in her life as she found new friends who can have fun together. She feels that these Coventry Ambassadors are not only friends but also a family. She also expressed her gratitude towards David as a leader, that how well he handled coordinating the programme throughout the time to make this team as effective as it is now.

Since 2012, Diane has participated in many events as a Coventry Ambassadors with the likes of Olympics 2012, International Davis Cup Tennis, Coventry Half Marathon however, the most memorable for her was the HMS Diamond Parade who were provided Freedom of The City of Coventry. This is most memorable because, she had a chance to see the young people in the Armed Forces who guard our country and protect us every day.

Diane described Coventry Ambassador programme as a “family oriented and awesome”. Shestrongly recommends to people as it will help them to learn the skills which they never even thought of. Adding to that, it will help people to become far more confident while meeting a lot of different people with different views.
