Siblings on Shift

Siblings on Shift

I started on my City Host journey in May/June 2021. I saw the drive to recruit City Hosts and felt drawn to it, showcasing and helping our city at such an important and exciting time. I spoke often to family and friends about all the events and shifts I had completed. Explaining that as well as being welcomed by everyone on the team I felt I was giving something back, I had gained fulfilment, made new friends and had such a happy, lovely time on shifts.

My sister recently moved back to Cov after a number of years living away and once she had settled in her new home, decided she would like to volunteer at something.  Having heard my positive comments and stories Hazel decided being a City Host would be just right for her, as she wanted something that would be flexible, but also wanted to feel useful.  Hazel liked the idea of meeting new people, not just at events but also making new friends from within our wonderful blue team, as I have.

Once Hazel finished her induction and Get Set training, we booked her on to a number of shifts, Greeting, Welcome Walk, Dippy and the bike ride etc.

So it was quite special that Hazel’s 1st shift was my 100th shift  that we were (thanks to Jo) able to do it together.

Thank you from 2 sisters for having us both as part of this wonderful blue team.
