EnV Youth Ambassadors

EnV Youth Ambassadors

We have been delighted to work with Coventry College to re-establish our Youth Ambassador volunteer programme following the pandemic. We have trained and provided new branded uniform for over 40 Coventry College students providing them access to deliver over 300 volunteer hours so far across the city with involvement in a range of opportunities. Jaspreet Atwal, Coventry College Industry Placement Team Leader, explains here how the programme has been of benefit to their students:

“Having been invited to join the City of Culture Volunteer Action Group organised by David and Tracy at EnV, I followed the progress and work of the City Hosts. Their success was quickly followed by Youth Hosts, and after conversations with David and Tracy the idea of Youth Ambassadors was developed to help our students become involved and part of the legacy work from the city of Culture in a safe and appropriate way.

We had hoped that the students would gain a unique experience by being involved in selected events at first, developing valuable skills such as communication, ‘thinking on their feet’, team work and following instructions; as well as some leadership skills. As it turns out after completing the initial training into the Ambassador role and some bespoke events including supporting Coventry College’s first ever Robot Day, they were happy to support Welcome Walks around the city, Music concerts and Art exhibitions. A select group of students attended further training to help support the CV One digital app campaign around the city. The students gained experience and not only the only the skills we had hoped, but a boost to their confidence and willingness to ‘join in’ was unexpected.   It’s been great to work with David and Tracy. They were always ready to listen and adapt the original programme to suit a younger group of ambassadors, with feedback and comments taken on board and acted upon quickly. Their commitment and dedication to the programme has helped give the students an opportunity not only to develop themselves alongside their college course, but increased their knowledge of the city, local events and attractions.  Working with the students, they even spotted a few potential leaders as well!”

We look forward to growing the Youth Ambassador programme and our partnership with Coventry College and further Sixth Form colleges in the city in future.
