I was very excited when Coventry became  City of Culture 2021 and wanted to be a part of it.  I have never been a volunteer before so was a little nervous as don’t know anyone but what didn’t matter as everyone is so friendly.  Love being part of the family in blue.

When we started to recruit for new City Hosts this year told my sister Claire about it.  She signed up and as we have done a few shifts together – she is enjoying it.

I have gained more confidence as I love sharing my knowledge about the City.  There is so much to learn about the history of the city and always learning something new.  Also love that all the other Volunteers share what they have learnt as we are one big happy family.

I tell people if they are thinking of being a volunteer  – just do it.  They will love it.

My favourite moments is meeting new people especially the other hosts as everyone has been so welcoming.  I have two memorable events – Tile Hill Party on the Green – it was great to see an amazing event in my local area and be able to support it. 2nd was the announcement of the City of Culture for 2025 when Bradford was announced as winner. (Also was on the TV)
